Birth Services

Prenatal Care

Your care will begin with an initial visit at my office between 10–12 weeks. After that, you’ll meet with me every 4–5 weeks until the third trimester, every two weeks until 36 weeks, and then weekly until your baby is born.

What to Expect from Your Prenatal Care

  • Unrushed visits with plenty of time to get to know you, your goals, and your values

  • Support for both your physical and emotional well-being at every appointment

  • Routine risk assessments including blood pressure checks, hands-on belly exams, and listening to your baby’s heart tones

  • Shared decision-making and informed consent as the foundation of your care

  • Standard lab screenings, physical exams, and education throughout pregnancy

  • Compassionate care where you feel heard and respected every step of the way

Labor + Delivery

No two births are the same, and your experience will be uniquely yours. When early labor begins, you and I will connect by phone and make a plan to come to your home.

What to Expect During Your Birth

  • A birth team of one licensed provider and a birth assistant

  • Phone support through early labor

  • Continuous support at home from active labor through the first few hours after birth

  • Gentle, regular monitoring of both mother and baby

  • Encouragement to eat, drink, and move freely during labor

  • Skin-to-skin contact and delayed cord clamping as standard care

  • Birth tubs available for labor or water birth

  • Partners and children welcome to participate as desired

Newborn Care

I typically provide four postpartum visits for you and your baby—one around 24 hours after birth, two within the first two weeks, and one at 6 weeks. I also recommend your newborn be seen by the pediatric provider of your choice within the first week of life.

What to Expect for Your Newborn

  • A gentle, thorough head-to-toe exam about one hour after birth

  • Vitamin K and erythromycin eye ointment available upon request

  • Newborn metabolic screening and congenital heart defect screening completed in your home during the first newborn visit

  • Assistance arranging your baby’s newborn hearing screen

  • Guidance on filing for your baby’s birth certificate and Social Security card

Postpartum Care

Care continues for up to two hours after your baby is born, allowing time for rest, bonding, and recovery.

  • Immediate skin-to-skin contact and uninterrupted bonding

  • Support with early breastfeeding

  • Suturing for mom if needed, using local anesthesia

  • Postpartum education and helpful resources for your new family

Postpartum Care: Day 1 – 6 Weeks

  • 24 Hour postpartum visit which includes the standard newborn screenings (metabolic screen, critical congenital heart defect screen, and the hearing screen)
  • A 1 week visit and a 2 week visit in home plus a 6 week in my office
  • 24/7 on-call phone support for questions or concerns

  • Breastfeeding guidance, support, and referrals if needed

  • Newborn jaundice and weight checks

  • Ongoing physical and emotional support

  • Family planning and contraceptive counseling
